Item 1 – Tootsie (Columbia Pictures. 1982, USA; Sydney Pollack). This is a very complex and interesting film. Dustin Hoffman plays the lead role which results in him playing two completely different characters; Michael Dorsey/Dorothy Michaels. His ability to change the certain characteristics that he created for the main character Michael

Item 2 – Rain man (United Artists. 1988, USA; Barry Levinson). This film is one of Dustin Hoffman’s most iconic roles and films the he has taken part in. He plays one of the lead roles as Raymond Babbitt, the autistic brother of Charlie Babbitt. His performance as Raymond shows his sustained virtuosity and his great ability to produce an exceptional performance.

Item 3 – Meet the Fockers (DreamWorks. 2004, USA; Jay Roach). Meet the Fockers is yet another film where Dustin takes on a completely different role from the previous. He plays the loving and somewhat embarrassing father of the main character. He doesn’t take a main role within this film but his natural comic timing and overall presence make him an asset to this film.

This source is very useful to me as it tells me what the original plot for Rain man was going to be and also lots of information about the award the film scooped up etc. this source is not only giving me a blurb of what the film is about, but also the trouble they had finding a director and finding a company to pick it up. This helps the audience understand not only the plot and the fundamentals, but the making of it.

- this is a long trailer which supplies the audience a quick look into the plot of the movie and the characters and their personalities. From this we can see that Charlie Babbitt is very controlling and that Raymond Babbitt is an autistic man and very much in a world of his own. These two characters are complete polar opposites to each other and together, this is straight away showcased in the trailer.
